Celebrites and characters from the film attended the premiere of Focus Features’ “Kubo and the Two Strings” at AMC Universal City Walk on August 14, 2016 in Universal City, Calif.
“Young Hollywood” was well represented at the event with actors, Madisyn Shipman (Kenzie Bell in the Nickelodeon sitcom Game Shakers), Riele Downs (Charlotte from the Nickelodeon series Henry Danger) and triple-threat Asia Monet Ray all in attendence.
Other guests included Matthew McConaughey, Jason George, Marissa Winokur and Ken Marino.
The animated feature assembled an impressive voice cast that includes Charlize Theron, Art Parkinson, Ralph Fiennes, George Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Vaccaro, Rooney Mara, Matthew McConaughey.
“Kubo and the Two Strings” takes place in Japan and follows the story of kindhearted protagonist Kubo (Parkinson) who lives with his mother and cares for her in a small village. A spirit from the past comes to him and enforces a vendetta from long ago, and Kubo finds himself fleeing from ancient gods and monsters.
LAIKA President and CEO Travis Knight made his directorial debut with this project after having served as lead animator and producer on the studio’s previous films.
“Kubo And The Two Strings” was released on August 19 in theaters nationwide.
